What type of RV do I need?

First, determine if you want a drivable or towable. If you don't own a vehicle capable of towing an RV, then this is an added expense to factor into your budget. If you want a towable, then pop-up campers, truck campers and small travel trailers are often the best way to ease into the RVing lifestyle. For those looking for more room, investing in a mid to large travel trailer or fifth wheel RV is the way to go. If you are looking for the ultimate experience, then a Class A diesel pusher will make life on the road a breeze with incredible comfort. I get this question frequently, so let me try to make sense of it. Diesel Powered class A motorcoaches have some added features that make them the superior choice for someone wanting the Ultimate experience and comfort on the road. Most Diesel pushers will have an air ride suspension, so you are floating down the highway on a cushion of air and there is no substitute for that feeling. They also have the engine in the rear which means the engine noise and heat are way behind you. Most Diesel pushers (DP) also come with a water-cooled diesel generator which is a true continuous duty gen that will run for days or weeks and it draws fuel from the main tank so you have more fuel in a DP than most other coaches. Most DP is on a heavier duty chassis which should last for a very long time. One of the other attributes is diesel-powered RV’s will have almost TWICE the torque of a Gas powered coach, so climbing mountains and towing a large trailer or full-size tow car is an option you will have with a DP. Most of the DP are also built to last a lifetime and then some with higher quality material and craftsmanship. All of this comes with a much higher price tag and maintenance cost but delivers the Ultimate Experience. Premium products always cost more and in my opinion, they are worth it. There are many different types of RVs, so feel free to contact us if you need help coming to a decision.

Gas or Diesel?

At the end of the day when you're camped down in your favorite campground, whether you arrived in a diesel or gas RV it makes very little difference. The gas coach will do everything a DP will do when you are stopped, it has a bedroom, a galley, toilet and shower, TV, etc… you get the point. When you’re not on the road then the DP loses its most important advantages and you might have some extra cash in the bank to enjoy the great outdoors even more. I would rather be camping in a pop-up camper than not camping at all so the choice you make is really about enjoying the Great outdoors with family and friends. There is an RV out there that literally fits every budget from a Tent all the way to a Taj Mahal. So make the choice to have fun and relax, no matter what. Camping or Glamping is a soul revival that a lot of folks will never experience. Every trip is a unique adventure to enjoy this great country and planet that God has created for his children. We have come a long way from the covered wagons of the early days of this nation. RVing is a made in America kind of thing, but other countries are now catching on and it has become a Global phenomenon. Nature is waiting.

Should I buy a used or new RV?

When starting out, it's cost-efficient to buy a used RV. You're safer if you buy a used RV from a dealer than a private buyer. When buying a new RV, you're usually covered by the manufacturer's warranty and any extended warranty you buy through us. If something goes wrong, there is a safety net. Contact us if you have any questions about manufacturer warranties.

Why is an RV warranty different than an automobile warranty?

Most people assume that a New RV warranty is the same as a new car warranty and that is just not the case. The warranty period for most RVs is a 12-24 month period and it really is designed for you to find out what all doesn’t work, which is called the De-Bugging process. It means you will probably spend some time taking it back and forth to your selling dealer for repairs and this might take 4-6 weeks or longer just to get a simple thing fixed. The RV cannot be used in a camping situation before delivery so there will be things that generally are unforeseen, like a screw through a waterline or screw through something electrical that causes a short, leaky roof or any number of things that are very different than an automobile. Pre-owned coaches have already been through a Debug process by the original owner, so if everything is working when you pick it up then you should be good to go for a bit. There will be things along the way that will need to be addressed so you will find a local RV repair facility or Mobile tech that will handle your maintenance and care.

Another difference is when you buy New then your local Jayco or any OEM dealer might or might NOT be willing to do warranty work for you on a coach that they did not sell you. When you buy a Ford, GM, Honda, etc., or any new car then there is a clear warranty that any dealer in the network will gladly handle your warranty claims in a timely fashion usually.

Owning an RV is a fun and rewarding experience, but please do not think that buying a new one will decrease the likelihood of having problems or that once a problem occurs then it becomes a major pain to get it warranted. RV’s are complex by nature; you are merging a house and a truck together, what could possibly go wrong!

What other expenses can I face when buying an RV?

Some extra expenses can include:

  • Insurance coverage
  • Maintenance and Repair Costs
  • Registration
  • Gas propane and Fuel
  • Cable and internet expenses
  • Where you will park during trips
